From the time he was a small child, Uncle Smitty was regaled with tales of his father and grandfather who worked tirelessly in the Manchester Millyard. He heard stories about how they had to walk up hill to work (both ways) and how the hot sweaty mills afforded them no rest. Not even a lunch break. Often they would share a can of beans and warm them up on the machinery in the mill. Even then, as a young lad, Uncle Smitty vowed that no Millyard worker would ever suffer that same fate.
Years later, unsatisfied by traditional cafeteria fare, Uncle Smitty went on a quest to build a better cafeteria. He was driven by a desire to bring extraordinary breakfast and lunch alternatives to all those who toiled in downtown Manchester, and thus Café 324 was born!
